How may I assist?

Marriage counselling provides a safe and confidential space where couples can explore their needs, feelings, and concerns, and with the guidance of a professional counsellor identify their issues, improve communication, find common ground, and resolve conflict to build a happy, healthy relationship. Though couples often enter therapy when in crisis it is a handy tool that can be used at any time in a relationship to acquire skills to improve and maintain both partner’s relationship satisfaction.

Trauma counselling helps people understand and manage the effects of a traumatic event(s) that has a direct impact on their thoughts, beliefs, and quality of life. An effective therapist guides the client through the event(s) and assists them in identifying false beliefs, feelings, and triggers around the event, helping them to develop new perspectives and coping mechanisms, reduce the traumatic stress symptoms, and regain control leading to emotional healing

Anxiety and depression counselling is highly effective in improving a client’s mood and quality of life. The counsellor guides the client in the therapeutic process and helps them identify the underlying causes, develop coping mechanisms, learn life skills, and change behaviours that improve their thoughts, feelings, relationships, and self-esteem.

Divorce is arguably one of the most stressful events that one may go through during their lifetime. Divorce counselling by a professional therapist is highly effective in managing and healing a client’s symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Divorce counselling assists the client in learning coping mechanisms, adapting to change, acquiring communication techniques, learning conflict resolution skills, and helping them to process grief that negates the negative effects of divorce and enhances their quality of life.

When we think of counselling we think of marriage counselling, couples counselling, grief counselling, counselling for anxiety and depression, and divorce counselling. These are only a few instances in which therapy can improve our quality of life. Individual counselling is equally effective in improving our quality of life when recovering from addiction, processing grief, healing from toxic and abusive relationships, and managing stress and burnout.

Online counselling is as effective as in-person counselling, each with unique advantages. Online counselling improves accessibility to counselling for people in remote areas, with physical limitations, and busy schedules. Online counselling can also assist in building trust and rapport by allowing the client to join sessions from a space where they are most comfortable. It is also cost and time-effective eliminating travelling time and costs. I offer professional in-person counselling at MediPractice@Saxby in Centurion, and online counselling appointments allowing each client to join sessions from their preferred setting.

“Life can be challenging and though we may be able to survive on our own, we shouldn’t have to. Effective counselling teaches us to thrive, not just survive, even in challenging times.
